PlatinumGames says it wants to expand Bayonetta

PlatinumGames president Atsushi Inaba says the studio wants to develop Bayonetta further as a character and broaden her world.

PlatinumGames has said it wants to keep building on Bayonetta, after the character was offered as a costume in Shift Up's Stellar Blade. In an interview with Famitsu, translated by Nintendo Everything, studio president Atsushi Inaba was asked about further games in the series and replied that he could not answer right now, but that PlatinumGames holds a strong desire to develop Bayonetta further as a character and expand her world. He offered no detail on what shape that might take, and the Stellar Blade outfits followed a collaboration with Shift Up's Kim Hyung Tae.

Any new project would arrive in a changed studio. Hideki Kamiya, who created and directed Bayonetta, left PlatinumGames in 2023 and founded his own team, citing disagreements with the company's direction, and he is now working on a sequel to Capcom's Okami. Other senior figures tied to the series have also departed, including Bayonetta Origins director Abebe Tinari and Bayonetta 3's Yusuke Miyata. Three Bayonetta games have shipped; the first remains the only entry widely available on PC via Steam, while later ones stayed on Nintendo platforms.
