The Witcher 3 Hits Record Concurrent Players on Steam
CD Projekt Red's RPG passes its previous high from 2020 as the Remastered Edition pushes it back up the Steam charts.
More than a decade after it first launched, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is doing better than ever on Steam. Following the release of The Witcher 3 Remastered, the game has climbed the Steam charts and reached its highest-ever concurrent player count. At the time of writing the peak stood at 120,975 players, beating the previous record of 103,329 set in January 2020, a figure reached shortly after the Netflix series launched. The game is also available on GOG, the Epic Games Store, PS5, Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S.
The Remastered Edition is a free upgrade for anyone who already owns the game, and it brought a long list of technical and visual upgrades to the 2015 original. The comeback is notable because the release calendar is unusually crowded, with Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Marvel's Wolverine, Control Resonant and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave all landing within weeks of one another, while other studios schedule around GTA 6's November launch. As of May 2026, the game's lifetime sales stood at 65 million units worldwide. A new expansion, Songs of the Past, is planned for 2027.
