FFVII Revelation Teases Hot Springs As PS5 Exclusivity Ends
A short clip shows Cloud, Barret and Red XIII soaking up buffs, as the director explains the trilogy's multiplatform shift.
Square Enix used the official Final Fantasy VII social account to show off a new hot springs feature headed to Revelation, the third part of the remake trilogy. A short clip puts Cloud, Barret and Red XIII in the water together, each balancing a Chocobo-themed rubber duck on their head. Soaking is said to raise the party's maximum HP permanently, unlock special outfits and trigger dedicated cutscenes. Long-awaited or not, the change marks a notable break from how Remake and Rebirth were handled, both of which spent years as PlayStation-only releases before spreading to other systems.
The reveal arrives alongside comments from director Naoki Hamaguchi, who told Edge that dropping PS5 exclusivity was an inevitable response to how people play. Revelation will be the first entry in the remake saga to launch on every major platform at once, rather than arriving on PlayStation first and reaching PC, Xbox and Nintendo years later. Hamaguchi argues the important question for big-budget development is no longer raw hardware power, but how widely the same core experience can be delivered. The game is dated for April 8, 2027. Hamaguchi framed the shift as practical rather than philosophical, tied to where players actually spend their time.
