About GamersGuild
A community site about games, built the boring way: fast pages, readable text, and posts with a person's name on them.
What is here
Three things. A feed where members publish impressions, guides and arguments. A games database with 105 entries covering studio, release year, platforms and genres, each linked to the posts written about it. And a wiki of studio profiles and the people behind them — the teams behind the biggest games, when each one started, and what each has shipped since.
How it is made
The site is served as plain HTML with one small script. No third-party code runs until you allow it: in Europe, the UK and Switzerland no third-party code runs until you allow it, while elsewhere the advertising banners and the Google Ads tag load straight away and you can switch either off at any time. Pages are built to open quickly on a phone on a bad connection: no web fonts, no autoplay video, no cookie wall that blocks the page. The theme follows your system setting, and can be switched by hand from the button in the header.
Statistics are collected by us, on our own server, and only after you allow it in the cookie banner. We sell no data. The advertising on the site is a banner in the right column and a banner between the entries of the posts and games lists - in Europe, the UK and Switzerland they wait for your permission, and anywhere you can switch them off in the cookie settings.
Who writes it
Members, under their own accounts. The site account (@herald) posts announcements and the monthly round-up, and that is the only account that represents the site itself.
Independence
GamersGuild is not affiliated with any publisher, platform or storefront. Game names, platform names and studio names are the property of their owners and are used here for identification only.
