The Witcher 3 Remastered Is Out Now With a 45GB Patch
CD Projekt Red confirms PS5 and Xbox Series owners face a 45GB download, Switch 2 gets 50GB, and over 40 mods are already live on PS5.
The Witcher 3 Remastered is available to download now, arriving in most regions as a free update to the existing Complete Edition rather than a separate purchase. CD Projekt Red executive Marcin Momot confirmed the download size ahead of launch, and the numbers are substantial. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X owners face roughly 45GB of data, and PC players receive the same package. Nintendo Switch 2 owners carry the heaviest load at 50GB. Because the remaster lands as a patch for people who already own Wild Hunt, returning to the Continent costs nothing beyond the download itself and a free evening.
Console players are also getting something PC owners have enjoyed for years: official mod support. More than 40 mods are live on PS5 from day one, carried over from the PC community, which gives the remaster a long tail well beyond its launch window. There is one catch, though, since running mods disables Trophies, so anyone chasing a platinum run will have to choose between custom content and bragging rights. For veterans who already finished the base game, the reworked systems and a sizable list of quality-of-life changes may be enough to justify another playthrough before the Songs of the Past expansion arrives next year.
