Indie RPG Queen's Domain Sets an October 30 Launch
The King's Field-inspired first-person RPG from Freshly Baked Games arrives on PC, PS5, Xbox and Switch 2 with 180,000 wishlists behind it.
Queen's Domain, a first-person RPG from indie studio Freshly Baked Games, finally has a release date: October 30. It will arrive on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Switch 2 on the same day. The project has built serious momentum, climbing past 180,000 Steam wishlists after passing the 50,000 mark in a single week last year. Its retro-fantasy look leans on dithering effects, a sparse interface and chunky creature designs rather than trying to imitate PlayStation-era hardware, and a demo is already available on Steam for anyone who wants an early look.
The comparisons come easily: King's Field, the 1990s FromSoftware series that preceded the Souls games, and Morrowind. Players wash ashore on a mysterious island with little guidance, then work out their own route through an interconnected world while assembling weapons and powers. Combat is stamina-based and deliberately punishing, and the arsenal includes a flying sword plus unlimited throwing daggers. Coverage has also linked the game to Ico and Final Fantasy's Ivalice period, placing it in a growing cottage industry of indie tributes that already includes Lunacid and Verho: Curse of Faces.
