Chack'n Pop and Balloon Bomber Head to Modern Consoles
Hamster's archive lines bring two arcade-era re-releases to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Switch 2 on October 1.
Two vintage arcade games are joining Hamster's long-running archive collections on 1st October. Console Archives Chack'n Pop is set for PlayStation 5 and Switch 2, while Arcade Archives 2 Balloon Bomber will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Switch 2 on the same day. The pair continue a reissue programme that has spent years porting decades-old coin-op software to current hardware, with modern conveniences such as display options, save states and online leaderboards attached to each individual release in the line. Both titles are being positioned as straightforward reissues rather than full remasters, keeping their original look and feel intact.
Chack'n Pop is remembered as an early platforming puzzle game built around defusing bombs while dodging enemies, and its design lineage is often linked to later bubble-blowing mascots. Balloon Bomber is a far simpler shooting gallery, a fixed-screen title in which the player fires upward at descending targets. Neither has been positioned as a headline event, but the two add another small slice of arcade history to modern storefronts, and they will be available on their respective platforms from the first day of October. Pricing for the individual releases was not detailed in the announcements.
