Xbox Mythic Achievements Hit Insiders With New Progress Bars

Microsoft is testing Mythic Achievements with Xbox Insiders, granting retroactive rewards for finishing every original achievement in a game.

Xbox Insiders can now preview Mythic Achievements, the reward Xbox grants once a player has unlocked every original achievement a game shipped with. Achievements bolted on later through DLC or updates are not required, and the status, once earned, is permanent. Microsoft also made the system retroactive, so completions stretching back to the Xbox 360 era can already qualify, which means plenty of players may get a roughly fifteen second notification congratulating them the next time they open their profile. Xbox is calling the rollout an early look, with Insiders supplying feedback ahead of a broader release.

A new Gaming tab on the profile collects achievements, the next Gamerscore milestone badge and completed games, with Mythic entries marked by a heroic frame so players can count them at a glance. Every achievement list now carries a progress bar at the top showing how near a player is to Mythic status, alongside a filter for the original achievements still outstanding, while later additions are tagged as add-ons. There is no date yet for a wider rollout, and the feature arrives during another round of layoffs across Microsoft gaming divisions.
