Gears of War: E-Day patch tackles bilefrog error codes

The Coalition's day-one update targets a split-screen sign-out dubbed Bilefrog-Kalona, plus campaign, Versus and Horde Siege fixes on launch eve.

Gears of War: E-Day arrives worldwide on 6 October, and a day-one patch is already live after early access players surfaced a batch of problems. The Coalition focused the update on stability, performance, and hardware compatibility across campaign, multiplayer, and Horde Siege. The standout fix targets the Bilefrog-Kalona error, named for the giant subterranean frogs that lob stomach acid at the player. It turned out to be a split-screen issue: a second player could be signed out of online services after the console or PC was suspended, then blocked when trying to rejoin through Quick Resume.

Other repairs are less colourful but more consequential. Versus Social matches that trapped players on a waiting screen have been addressed, as has an authentication glitch when a system clock drifts far from the correct time. Siege Blitz Secure objectives that previously refused to complete now register, and a missing extraction helicopter was fixed for Downtown West. The campaign collects a string of Act 2 and Act 4 corrections, covering stalled objectives, a turret that stayed stuck through cutscenes, and join-in-progress players wrongly receiving War Journal progress and Forge rewards earned before they arrived.
