WoW Forever Hides Over 12,500 Items From Dataminers
Blizzard has sealed the stats on almost 40 percent of the MMO's item database during the beta test.
Blizzard is keeping almost 40 percent of World of Warcraft: Forever's item database away from dataminers. Of nearly 32,000 items found in the files, more than 12,500 have hidden statistics, according to Icy Veins. Datamining tools can confirm those items exist and point to where many of them come from, but the numbers attached to them stay encrypted. Many are believed to be new, while others look like modified versions of gear from WoW Classic. The beta already contains new dungeons, abilities and a playable race. That gap is deliberate, and it is designed to keep the expansion's surprises intact for launch.
Players have uncovered more than 4,400 of the hidden items so far, and once an item is found the game's backend reveals it. A large share of the unknowns come from raids and dungeons, including tier sets; early low-level dungeon sets and full loot tables for Wailing Caverns, Ragefire Chasm, Shadowfang Keep and the Deadmines are already known. The beta's level cap sits at 20 and will rise to 30 before it ends, which should expose considerably more dungeon loot as testers push further into the game. Dataminers note that some remaining entries may never ship at all.

World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft is Blizzard Entertainment's long-running online RPG, launched on November 23, 2004 and still sold as a subscription rather than a one-off purchase. A single subscription covers both the retail game and World of Warcraft Classic, and Blizzard lists Windows and macOS among its supported systems. The studio is running the WoW Forever beta alongside the live game.
