GTA 6 Rating Details Leak as Rockstar Promises More Satire
A since-deleted PEGI listing pointed to detailed violence and drug use, while Rockstar says its satire of modern life will stay over the top.
A PEGI age listing for Grand Theft Auto 6, since removed from the ratings body's website, described strong graphic violence and use of illegal drugs and went into unusual detail. The listing cited bloody violence with a high degree of realism, including decapitation and dismemberment caused by certain weapons, and said drug use would be frequent and prominent, with players able to use items directly from their inventory. The game has also been given a Mature rating in the US, ahead of its release on consoles on November 19, with a PC version not yet dated.
In a separate cover feature, Rockstar staff discussed the sequel's satirical ambitions. Writing director James Horton said the world should wash over players as they move through busy streets, hearing snatches of conversation, while narrative senior vice president Rupert Humphries said a version of the present day has to be more over the top to justify the effort behind it. The piece, published in a fashion magazine, also touched on Lucia, the series' first fully voiced woman protagonist, and on her relationship with co-lead Jason.
