GTA 6 Details: Animal Species, Side Activities, Fast Travel
Game Informer shed light on Leonida: 170 animal species, new side activities, a ride-share fast travel system, and confirmed hurricanes.
Rockstar Games lifted the lid on a fresh batch of Grand Theft Auto 6 features this week, and the picture is a wide one. Game Informer reports the studio confirmed hurricanes, a subject fans had speculated about for years, though Rockstar declined to say how often they strike or whether they touch the story. The weather engine was rebuilt for localized, persistent conditions, so a player can bask in sunshine while watching a storm roll over a different part of the map. Rainbows, puddles, and wind that ripples water and drags debris across Leonida are all included. The world itself is twice the size of GTA 5, split into six distinct regions, with Vice City as the headline attraction.
More than 170 animal species populate that map, among them over 60 kinds of birds and 30-plus land mammals, plus sharks, whales, jellyfish, turtles, and rays with distinct movement. Players can track wildlife and may stumble onto rare types. Fast travel returns through a ride-share car, and fellow passengers will chat with you on the way, or you can doomscroll on Snapmatic instead of making conversation. Side activities include base jumping, billiards, gyms, kayaking, mini golf, scuba diving, street and off-road racing, zoos, air boating, and jet skiing. Hunting also appears to be making a comeback.
