GTA 5 Switch Mod Shuts Down, Dev Thanks Take-Two Mercy
Paralympics Productions closes on October 3 after Take-Two intervened over its unofficial Switch port of GTA 5, built from leaked code.
The fan project that aimed to put Grand Theft Auto 5 on the original Nintendo Switch is finished. Paralympics Productions, the outfit behind the port, announced it will shut down on October 3, with project lead Mojso thanking supporters and apologising for leaving them without the release. The work had been underway for some time and was only days away from launch. Earlier this month Rockstar published revised Mod Guidelines stating that its games must not be modified to run on consoles or devices the studio has not officially supported, and publisher Take-Two Interactive noticed the effort soon after that notice appeared.
Mojso described the outcome as merciful rather than punishing. He said he is thankful for Take-Two mercy and called this the definitive end, which suggests the company chose a warning or takedown over a full lawsuit. He added that he would most likely lose in court, since Rockstar has solid grounds and he could not claim he did not know what he was getting into, and that he wishes he had been given more time before release. He also confirmed he is not coming back and will not release anything new. Modders first got GTA 5 running on Switch back in 2024, after the game source code leaked.

Grand Theft Auto V
Grand Theft Auto V puts three criminals in Los Santos and lets you switch between them mid-mission: a retired robber, a repo man and a pilot who talks too much. The same city is the setting of GTA Online, which has been running as its own game for over a decade.
