First Witcher 3 Remastered reviews arrive ahead of launch
Metro leads the early scores with 4.5/5 as three more outlets hand out 9/10 for the free Witcher 3 upgrade.
The first reviews of The Witcher 3 Remastered landed on Monday, hours before the free upgrade goes live on September 29. Metro was the most generous of the early critics at 4.5/5, praising a refreshed 4K presentation and sharper, rebalanced combat while noting that the bones of the original RPG are untouched beneath it. Noisy Pixel, GamingBolt and GameTyrant each awarded 9/10, Polygon and Sportskeeda filed positive impressions, and PCGamesN settled on mostly positive.
Eurogamer framed the release as an extraordinarily generous piece of support for an eleven-year-old single-player game, pointing out that owners pay nothing for it. The upgrade is free for anyone who owns the digital version of The Witcher 3 on Xbox Series X and S, with physical owners apparently covered too.
