Final Fantasy chocobo cosplay hats head to arcades
Square Enix and Taito will hand out chocobo cosplay caps as arcade prizes in Japan from late October, in two designs drawn from the spin-offs.
Square Enix and Taito will bring Final Fantasy-themed chocobo cosplay hats to Japanese arcades as prizes, timed for the run-up to Halloween. The caps are shaped like the top of the bird head, with the beak resting over the wearer, and they come in two versions: one with the eyes open and one with them firmly closed. The designs follow the stylised chibi chocobo seen in spin-offs such as Chocobo Dungeon and Chocobo Racing, along with the Alpha variant familiar to players of Final Fantasy XIV.
The arcade prizes are scheduled to appear in late October 2026, though the official site has not named an exact debut date, and there is no word yet on whether the hats will ever be offered outside Japan. The reveal lands during a busy stretch for the publisher. Square Enix is also preparing to shut down Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis on October 7, closing a mobile and PC title that spent its life retelling the original story along with several companion entries.
