Final Fantasy 7 remake lead on playing the original first
Naoki Hamaguchi says fans are not wrong to tell newcomers to finish the 1997 RPG, because its story is enshrined inside the trilogy.
Should newcomers to the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy play the 1997 game first? Lead developer Naoki Hamaguchi told GamesRadar+ there is no clear-cut answer, but he does not think fans are mistaken when they recommend it.
Part of his reasoning is structural. The storyline of the original is very much enshrined within the story and the narrative of the remake, he said, while adding that players who do not know what a Materia is can still enjoy the way the trilogy tells it.
