Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development
A Ubisoft Bordeaux narrative director says he has spent months on the game in a support role, nearly two decades after it was announced.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 has produced almost nothing but silence for years, and this week's update is as small as updates get: Rik Godwin, a lead writer and associate narrative director at Ubisoft Bordeaux, said on Bluesky that he has been working on the game in a consultant role and had permission to say so.
Ubisoft Montpellier still leads the project, with Bordeaux assisting. The sequel was announced in 2008, shown again in 2017, and has been through at least one full reboot of its production plans, so a single credited writer is thin evidence of a release date but solid evidence the project has not been closed.
