Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 studio Cold Iron cuts staff

Cold Iron Studios has laid off an undisclosed number of developers, saying it is reducing staffing around its ongoing development and support needs.

Cold Iron Studios has let an undisclosed number of developers go, telling its community through the studio's Discord. The announcement described a difficult decision to reduce staffing and rearrange responsibilities to fit its continuing development and support needs, and said farewell to colleagues and friends the studio was grateful for.

The cuts follow a mixed reception for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, which drew criticism from reviewers and players over bugs, performance and design choices. Cold Iron says it will keep supporting the co-op shooter, with near-term work on its quality, an update roadmap promised in the coming weeks and a Nintendo Switch 2 version eyeing 2027.
