Xbox Finally Ships Its Answer to PlayStation Platinum Trophies

Mythic Achievements, described by Xbox as one of its most player-requested features, arrive first for Insiders and roll out to everyone later.

Achievement hunters finally have their Platinum Trophy equivalent. Mythic Achievements went live for Xbox Insider programme members, awarded to anyone who unlocks and completes every achievement a game offers, and Xbox billed the addition as one of its most player-requested features. The neatest part for long-time players is that it works backwards: games completed across Xbox 360, Xbox One and Series X|S libraries unlock their Mythic automatically, so many accounts already hold a stack of rewards simply waiting to be discovered. That retroactive sweep is generating most of the excitement, since it rewards years of quiet completion rather than any new purchase.

Profiles pick up a new Gaming tab listing achievements, the next Gamerscore milestone badge and finished games, while Mythic entries wear a distinctive heroic frame that makes them easy to spot in a crowded history. A progress bar sits at the top of every achievement list to show how much grinding is left before the reward triggers. The rollout begins with Insiders and reaches the wider Xbox audience eventually, though Microsoft has not said when and has offered no timetable, and the announcement drew a notably cheerful response from the community.
