Wolverine Holds Its Own Against PlayStation Live-Service Hits

Circana data shows the Insomniac superhero game ranked seventh on PlayStation weekly active users in the US, the only single-player title in that top ten.

Circana tracked weekly active users on PlayStation in the United States for the week ending September 19, and the new Insomniac release landed seventh overall, squeezed between Marvel Rivals and Minecraft. It was the only single-player title in that top ten, a chart otherwise dominated by live-service mainstays. NBA 2K27, Fortnite and Roblox held the top spots, with live-service shooters and sports titles filling nearly every other slot. Circana analyst Mat Piscatella added that the average Wolverine player in the US put in 14.2 hours that week, putting the game inside the top twenty PlayStation titles by engagement.

That is a solid result for a game built as a mostly one-and-done experience, with little pulling players back beyond a New Game Plus mode. Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics estimated 1.9 million units sold through September 18 and predicted a shorter, lumpier tail than Spider-Man, limited by mixed reception, though holiday gifting and new PS5 owners should still lift it. Insomniac has issued hotfixes reducing the scent trails that guided players to collectibles, and GameSpot scored the September 15 release 8 out of 10, calling it fun but forgettable.
