Marvel's Wolverine patch adds toggles for its scent trails
Insomniac has made the sensory clues that lead players to collectibles optional after sustained complaints.
Patch 1.001.006 for Marvel's Wolverine puts separate switches into the settings menu for the game's sensory hints. Whisky Bottle Scent Trails, Material Crate audio cues and the purple roots that mark Nightmare Doors can each be turned off, so a player who wants to find collectibles unaided no longer has a bright line painted across the screen telling them where to go.
It is a small change that answers a loud complaint, and it points at how widely these guidance systems are now used to keep open-world games readable. Insomniac had already reduced the effect of the trails in an earlier patch before making them fully optional in this one.
