Wardogs boss: 'not pro crunch, I am pro hard work'

Bulkhead's Joe Brammer clarified his remarks after a backlash, saying overtime should be rewarded and that the studio runs a four-day week.

Joe Brammer, chief executive of Wardogs maker Bulkhead, has clarified comments he made about crunch after a backlash. He said he is not pro crunch but pro hard work, arguing that when people do work overtime they should be rewarded for it, and that defining crunch is subjective.

His earlier remark that Bulkhead would not hire people who constantly post anti-crunch messaging drew criticism, and he later said staff had worked an extra two hours per week from Monday to Thursday for four weeks, adding that the studio operates a four-day week. Wardogs has sold more than three million copies in its first 18 days, and Brammer has described the scale of that success as overwhelming for the team.
