Unicorn Overlord director reveals new RPG for 2028
Takafumi Noma has announced the IGNISPHERE project and DAWNGAZER, an action RPG heading to PS5, Switch 2 and PC in 2028.
Takafumi Noma, who directed Unicorn Overlord before leaving Vanillaware, has unveiled his next project. IGNISPHERE is the umbrella name for a new fantasy franchise, and its first game is DAWNGAZER, an action RPG developed by Monochrome Corporation with Good Smile Company publishing. The current plan is a 2028 release on PlayStation 5, Switch 2 and PC.
Good Smile is treating the franchise as more than a game, with cross-media plans that already include light novels. Only a teaser has been shown so far, and Noma's previous work is the main reason anyone is paying attention: Unicorn Overlord was one of 2024's best-reviewed strategy RPGs.
