South Korea takes five esports medals at Asian Games

South Korea closed the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games with two golds, a silver and two bronzes, led by a second straight League of Legends title.

South Korea finished the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games with five esports medals across nine events, including a second consecutive League of Legends gold. The tally comprised two golds, one silver and two bronzes across team and individual competitions. The League of Legends title was the countrys final gold, while its first had come in the fighting-game team event. South Korea beat Chinese Taipei 3-0 in the League of Legends final at Aichi Sky Expo on October 2, finishing undefeated across all eight games after topping Group B with wins over Chinese Taipei, India and Hong Kong and sweeping Saudi Arabia 2-0 in the semifinals. Faker, Zeus and Keria returned from the Hangzhou gold roster, while Canyon, Zeka and Gumayusi won gold on their Asian Games debuts.

The first gold came on September 26, when Bae Jae-min, Lee Kwang-no and Yeon Je-gil beat host nation Japan 5-2 in the fighting-game team final, an event that mixed three fighting titles. South Korea had trailed 1-2 before winning four straight sets. Kang Dong-shin added silver in Puyo Puyo Champions, losing 2-10 to Japans Yuki Kurihara in the final. The countrys first esports podium had arrived three days earlier, when Kim Young-chan finished third among eight finalists in Gran Turismo 7.
