Sony surveys PS5 owners as disc backlash continues
An open questionnaire follows reports of a developer survey, and industry figures say the decision to end disc production may not be final.
Sony has put out a public PS5 satisfaction survey, and physical-media owners are using the free-text fields to argue against the company's plan to stop manufacturing discs by 2028. The survey itself asks about the console's interface, library, controller and online features rather than discs, but the timing, days after a reported developer questionnaire, has been read as a sign that the decision is still open.
That reading is reinforced by Kenzo Saruhashi of Nippon Ichi Software, whose business depends on physical releases. He says conversations with Sony suggest the company is hearing customer feedback and that the plan could still change. Sony has said nothing publicly about reversing course.
