Rockstar Suggests GTA 6 Will Skip Some Florida Icons

Rockstar says it must choose which landmarks fit its fictional Leonida, so not every attraction will appear.

Rockstar has hinted that some of Florida's best known attractions will not appear in Grand Theft Auto 6. Speaking to Game Informer for its cover story on the game, Rockstar's Paul MacPherson, who oversees environment art at the studio, was asked how landmarks such as Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal Studios would be handled in Leonida, the studio's fictional take on the state. He explained that the team has to weigh the variety of landscapes, towns, structures, vistas and plant species before narrowing the list down with the design and narrative teams.

MacPherson stopped short of ruling any location out, but said the aim is to capture the wider Florida experience rather than reproduce every famous site, adding that anything included has to serve the game's needs. Rockstar's previous open world offered a boardwalk with a pier, a rollercoaster and a ferris wheel, a set of attractions players largely visited once. The interview did not suggest what might replace those landmarks, which leaves the final map unconfirmed ahead of the game's November release. Grand Theft Auto 6 remains one of the most closely watched projects in the industry.
