Build A Rocket Boy enters administration

The MindsEye studio has filed for administration in the UK, weeks after reports that most of its staff had already gone.

Build A Rocket Boy, the studio behind this year's troubled shooter MindsEye, has appointed administrators. The filing at Companies House means the company is insolvent and cannot cover what it owes, which is why administration is used: it shields a business from creditors while someone works out whether anything can be sold or kept running.

The step follows a wave of layoffs and reports that only a skeleton staff remained to see the studio through to closure. The Edinburgh outfit was founded by former Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies, and MindsEye was pitched as the start of a much larger connected project, so the collapse ends one of the more expensive bets of the past two years.
