Sony Prepping Revamped PS App With Social Features
An expanded version of the PlayStation App is due in the next few days, adding a social tab and a friend-activity widget on iOS and Android.
Sony is preparing a bigger, more social version of the PlayStation App. The company says the expanded and improved update will arrive in the next few days on both iOS and Android. The new build adds a social tab along the bottom of the screen, and a widget at the top will show what friends are playing, making it easier to keep tabs on the people on a player's friends list.
Sony teased the refresh with a short video posted to social media, which also suggests the app is getting a slight redesign. The PS App is the companion software for PlayStation consoles, used for browsing the PlayStation Store, managing downloads and sharing screenshots and video captures. The revamped mobile client leans further into the social side of the PlayStation ecosystem, mirroring features that have become a bigger part of the console experience and letting players stay connected while away from their hardware. Sony has not shared a full feature list or said which regions will receive the update first.
