Sony opens PS5 Pro lottery in Japan with a 60-hour rule
PlayStation has launched a lottery for the PS5 Pro in Japan, requiring at least 60 hours of logged playtime before players can apply.
Sony has turned to a lottery to sell the PS5 Pro in Japan, where the console has been running short of stock. A post on the Japanese PlayStation blog published on 27 September explained the shortage, and the application window is open now, running until Wednesday 7 October.
To enter, players need at least 60 hours of playtime logged on a PS5 or PS4 between 27 September 2024 and 27 September 2026, recorded on their online Sony account. Winners will be told on 26 October and pay 137,980 yen, and anyone who does not buy by 2 November loses the spot to a later re-draw. The squeeze follows heavy demand after August's GTA 6 reveal and scalper pricing.
