Satisfactory reveals first expansion Core Values

Coffee Stain heads underground for the factory builder's debut expansion, set in a cramped biome with a fresh set of logistics tools.

Coffee Stain Studios has announced Core Values, the first expansion for its factory-building game Satisfactory. Where the base game opens with a drop pod plunging toward an alien surface, the expansion heads underground: it is set entirely in a subterranean biome where space and light are both limited, and even navigating the tunnels becomes part of the challenge. The studio has been keen to stress that this is not simply the existing game with the lights turned off, and that the shift in setting comes with its own rules rather than a reskinned version of the surface.

Instead, Core Values introduces a fresh set of logistics tools, so moving resources from a mining point to a refining point will not always come down to laying another conveyor belt. Running a thriving mining operation in a cramped, dark environment reshapes the usual planning loop, pushing players to rethink layouts rather than simply scale up the ones they already know. Coffee Stain Publishing and Coffee Stain Studios confirmed the reveal, positioning the expansion as a genuine change of setting and mechanics rather than a content pack bolted onto the existing map.
