NIS America boss on Sony's PS5 disc decision

With SEGA and Capcom unfazed by Sony ending physical media in 2028, the publisher behind elaborate collector's editions says the outcome is still open.

Sony's decision to stop manufacturing physical media in 2028 keeps drawing comment, and the latest response comes from NIS America. Its boss told Push Square that Sony is hearing a lot of feedback from customers, and that the industry will have to wait and see how the situation develops.

Larger publishers such as SEGA and Capcom have indicated the change does not worry them much. NIS America sits in a different position. Collector's editions and boxed extras are part of how the company sells its games, which makes the disc debate a business question rather than a preference about packaging.
