Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet returns in 2027

Naughty Dog says it will stay quiet for the rest of the year and unveil its sci-fi adventure in full next year, alongside two early Last of Us projects.

Naughty Dog has confirmed that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will not be shown again until 2027. In a message published around The Last of Us Day, studio head Neil Druckmann said the team is working flat out on what he calls the most ambitious game the studio has ever made, and that it needs a little more time before the pieces come together. He framed the coming silence as deliberate, telling fans to set expectations accordingly, because the studio intends to go quiet for the rest of this year rather than tease the project piecemeal.

The same update mentioned a pair of further projects set in The Last of Us universe, both of which Druckmann described as being at very early stages. He said the two will expand the canon of the series beyond the first two games, though he gave no hint of what form they might take, and he stressed that the studio would not return to that world without something meaningful to say. Since The Last of Us Part 2 arrived in 2020, Naughty Dog has shipped remasters and a remake, while the planned multiplayer spin-off was cancelled.
