GTA 6 Age Ratings Reveal Decapitation and Drug Use
ESRB and PEGI classifications land ahead of the November 19 launch, listing graphic violence, cocaine use and sexual content.
Age-rating boards have published their classifications for GTA 6 ahead of its November 19 release. The ESRB in the United States handed the game an M for Mature, while PEGI gave it an 18 for the UK and Europe with a far more detailed description than the series normally receives. PEGI calls the violence bloody and highly realistic, noting that certain weapons inflict greater damage, including detailed decapitation and dismemberment. Drug use is described as frequent and prominent, with players able to take illegal substances straight from their inventory; the board singles out cocaine, which can be carried and snorted from the hand at any moment.
The listing adds strong sexual themes, scenes of intercourse and occasional sexual fetishes, along with nightclub private dances the player can interact with. Store pages in Australia and New Zealand carry a more specific Sex Scenes label that the series has not used before, while the US tag line repeats GTA 5 word for word, and the ESRB wording matches the earlier game exactly. PEGI later removed its page, leaving a blank entry. Rockstar has spent the week filling in the open world elsewhere, confirming more than 170 animal species and a rebuilt weather system.
