Free Witcher 3 Remastered on Switch 2, PS5 Pro Uneven

A borrowed Switch 1 cartridge unlocks a free copy on Nintendo's new console, while PS5 Pro owners report very different performance.

Switch 2 owners have found a cheap route into the remaster. Borrowing a physical Switch 1 copy of Wild Hunt is enough to download the full Remastered version on the new console, and the trick can be repeated across as many systems as someone has access to. Unlike a Game-Key Card, the cartridge does not have to stay in the console in order to keep playing afterwards. It is a loophole rather than an official promise, but it fits the wider free-upgrade policy CD Projekt Red applied to the remaster.

Performance on PS5 Pro is proving far less predictable. Some players report significant technical problems, while others, including a reviewer who ran through the whole release, saw nothing beyond a small hitch during autosave that was already present in the 2022 Complete Edition. Nobody has settled on an explanation for the gap yet. The remaster also adds Loot Merge, an option that gathers drops from nearby containers of the same type into a single window. It works on corpses but not on cabinets and chests, and it is worth leaving switched on.
