WoW Forever tests round-robin group quest drops
A 'recent allies' system pushes past groupmates back into your layer, while quest items are shared out evenly so nobody finishes first.
World of Warcraft Forever's beta is testing a 'recent allies' system, which remembers players you have grouped and interacted with, pushes them towards your layer in future and recolours their nameplates so they stand out. Working alongside it, the beta now shares quest drops out more evenly inside a group.
Lead developer Josh Greenfield said the change was added under the hood as part of a pro-social approach, so quest items are handed round the group rather than falling to whoever gets there first. He noted it will still take time to complete quests, as in the original game, but should cut the feast-or-famine swings. Blizzard also raised the beta's server cap over the weekend.

World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft is Blizzard Entertainment's long-running online RPG, launched on November 23, 2004 and still sold as a subscription rather than a one-off purchase. A single subscription covers both the retail game and World of Warcraft Classic, and Blizzard lists Windows and macOS among its supported systems. The studio is running the WoW Forever beta alongside the live game.
