Sony pulls out of CES for the first time since 1967
PlayStation fans lose a regular stop on the calendar: Sony is skipping the January 2027 show and pointing to entertainment over technology.
Sony will not attend CES in January 2027, ending a run that stretches back to the show's 1967 debut. The company told Bloomberg the decision followed a review of how it approaches events and communications across its different businesses, and said its current focus sits on entertainment, including games, anime, film and music.
CES is a technology-first show, but it has still delivered the occasional PlayStation headline. In 2020 then-PlayStation boss Jim Ryan used the stage to reveal the PS5 logo, and a CES 2022 appearance introduced PlayStation VR2 alongside Horizon Call of the Mountain. More recent years tied PlayStation to transmedia plans, including Horizon and Helldivers films.
