Nadella calls Xbox restructuring great to see
Microsoft's chief executive praised the streamlining on a podcast, days after further layoffs and studio cuts in the gaming division.
Satya Nadella used an appearance on the Sources podcast to talk up Xbox's position, describing the streamlining being carried out under Xbox chief Asha Sharma as great to see and saying he feels fantastic about the studios and franchises Microsoft now owns. He added that the division still has to find a sustainable business model that reaches more players.
The comments land badly with parts of the audience, coming days after another round of layoffs and studio closures across the gaming division, following 1,600 job cuts earlier in the summer. Nadella also argued the industry has to earn trust on AI, saying scepticism in Western markets is notably higher than elsewhere.
