Minecraft Theme Park Is 'the First of Many' for Xbox
The upcoming UK attraction sits inside Chessington World of Adventures, and Xbox's wording hints at placements rather than a dedicated park.
Xbox has formalized its push into entertainment beyond games with a division named XP, and theme parks now sit among its responsibilities. Chief strategy officer Matthew Ball described the upcoming Minecraft park as the first of many theme park placements to come, while CTO Scott Van Vliet confirmed attractions fall under the new banner. The Minecraft site is set to open in the United Kingdom next year within Chessington World of Adventures, complete with themed food.
That phrasing is deliberately narrow. Ball referred to placements rather than parks, suggesting Xbox characters are more likely to appear inside existing venues than to anchor a dedicated Xbox park of their own. The approach mirrors Nintendo, whose Super Nintendo World areas live within the wider Universal Studios locations rather than as standalone destinations. Kayleen Walters, formerly Mojang's president and a Lucasfilm executive, leads the XP division, which also covers film and television, merchandise, live events and brand partnerships. Whether Xbox ever builds a park under its own name remains unclear, and the company's wording has so far avoided promising one.
