Esports Leaves Asian Games for 2027 Event in Kuwait

The Olympic Council of Asia has signed a host city contract with Kuwait for the first Asian Esports and Mind Sports Games, planned for 2027.

Aichi-Nagoya 2026 will be the last Asian Games with esports on the programme. The Olympic Council of Asia is instead preparing a dedicated competition, the Asian Esports and Mind Sports Games, according to Dot Esports.

The OCA has signed the host city contract with Kuwait to stage the inaugural edition of that new event in 2027. The announcement marks the next step in a decision the OCA Executive Board already approved in November 2024, meaning the move away from the Asian Games had been agreed well before the contract was signed.
