Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film in the works at Paramount
CD Projekt Red is co-producing as studio attaches Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, with no director or cast yet.
Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action film based on Cyberpunk 2077, with CD Projekt Red co-producing alongside veteran Hollywood producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Deadline first reported the project, the latest big-screen adaptation of a hit game. Di Bonaventura is best known for shepherding the Transformers and G.I. Joe films, while Paramount itself is also behind the Call of Duty movie set for 2028. No director, cast or release window has been announced, and the film is described as being at a very early stage.
CD Projekt Red's involvement is a significant detail, given that several high-profile adaptations have forged ahead without their original creators. The studio already guided the acclaimed Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, whose second season lands on Netflix on October 20. Michal Nowakowski of CD Projekt Red said the team sees Paramount as a partner sharing its creative ambitions for the franchise, while associate game director Pawel Sasko welcomed the news. Cyberpunk 2077, itself adapted from Mike Pondsmith's tabletop role-playing game, has sold more than 40 million copies and is expanding with a sequel, Cyberpunk 2, already in development.
