Meta brings its Muse AI agent to smart glasses soon

Meta says its action-taking agent will reach the glasses in the coming months, running tasks in the cloud while the wearer keeps the phone pocketed.

Meta is preparing to put its Muse AI agent onto its smart glasses, letting it carry out chores while the wearer leaves the phone in a pocket. Unlike a plain chatbot, Muse can actually act. Meta says the agent runs on a private Linux virtual machine in the cloud with its own browser, file system and terminal that keep running whether or not an app is open, so it can write and execute code, hand work to helper agents and schedule jobs. It can also produce documents, PDFs and small tools such as spending trackers.

For the glasses, Meta lists tasks such as booking appointments, comparing flight prices, finding replacement parts, logging meals and buying products the wearer happens to see. Muse launched earlier this month on phones and the web in the United States and climbed the iPhone download charts quickly, helped by its consumer-friendly messaging style and a friendly avatar. Payment details stay hidden through Stripe Link virtual cards. Timing for the glasses rollout is vague: Meta says the coming months, while its executives have variously promised weeks or simply soon.
