Ben Affleck has strong opinions on Fortnite skins
The actor told the New Heights podcast he was wiped out and mocked by younger players, and balked at the price of his son's cosmetic wishlist.
Ben Affleck has thoughts about Fortnite, and he aired them on the New Heights podcast alongside brothers Jason and Travis Kelce. The two-time Oscar winner described himself as a serious gamer with a particular taste for first-person shooters, so he went into the battle royale expecting to hold his own against the competition.
Reality arrived quickly. Affleck said he was eliminated almost immediately, then mocked by the pre-teen opponents who took him down, prompting him to fire back that he does not suck and is, in fact, a grown man. He also recalled his son asking for Fortnite skins, only to discover a bundle could run into the hundreds of dollars for purely digital items, a price tag he found hard to accept. The episode lands amid a wider conversation about the shop's pricing, and it puts a famous face on a complaint plenty of parents have made. Affleck's own competitive shooter of choice remains Valorant, which he reportedly rates far above Fortnite's cartoon firefights. His verdict on the pricing was blunt, and it is unlikely to be the last word on the matter.
