Modder Drops GTA 5 Switch Port After Take-Two Warning
An unofficial port of GTA 5 to Nintendo Switch is dead after its creator received a cease and desist from Rockstar's parent company.
A modder who was bringing GTA 5 and GTA Online to modded Nintendo Switch consoles has abandoned the project after a legal threat. The creator, known as Mojso, made the work public shortly after Rockstar published moderation guidelines that rule out unofficial ports, and answered the company with a public dare. Three days later the modder's Discord server was taken down over copyright infringement, which did not slow the work down. Mojso argued that copyright enforcement barely reached his home country of Serbia, and expected no serious pushback from the publisher.
That calculation did not hold. Less than a week later a cease and desist arrived from Take-Two Interactive, and the modder publicly thanked the company for its mercy. The project, Paralympics Productions, is set to shut down on October 3, and the port will never be released because its author says they will not risk a legal fight. The build leaned on leaked GTA 5 source code, the same material behind a series of earlier leaks. The brief saga is a reminder of how quickly unofficial ports of Rockstar titles draw a response.

Grand Theft Auto V
Grand Theft Auto V puts three criminals in Los Santos and lets you switch between them mid-mission: a retired robber, a repo man and a pilot who talks too much. The same city is the setting of GTA Online, which has been running as its own game for over a decade.
